In December 2003 the first issue of Tabula Rasa came out of print as a political, academic and editorial commitment, which has now been consolidated. Since then, we have perceived the importance of an open access journal, taking into account what this means in terms of knowledge production policies that are becoming more and more firm in the academic world, not only nationally but internationally. This project emerges as an alternative option to the preeminence of copyright policy in the circulation of knowledge, and therefore clearly aims at copyleft, free reproduction, open access. Today, 4 years after the appearance of the first issue, we affirm the importance of this initiative and continue working to achieve the constitution of less restricted knowledge. In this sense, it is presented as a political position that claims the social responsibility - and not business - of both universities and researchers, as well as academic journals, around the production of knowledge: this should not be a merchandise but a right of all people.
