Resumen

Ela Greenberg ofrece una obra detallada sobre el desarrollo de la educación femenina musulmana en Palestina desde finales del Imperio otomano y a través del todo el Mandato británico (1880-1948), realizando una profunda pesquisa de las concepciones modernas coloniales/decoloniales en donde la educación femenina que fue una pieza clave para el desarrollo del nacionalismo palestino y un espacio predilecto para confrontar un espacio en miras hacia una modernidad. Una obra que entrecruza análisis de género, religión, clase social, nacionalismo y política imperial británica, utilizando la historia de la educación en el Mandato de Palestina como una lente vital para comprender las implicaciones de los problemas de una naciente modernización en Palestina (Grosvenor, 1999; Fortna, 2002).
