The Norms of Nature is a work built on the contributions of important scholars dedicated to the study of ancient and modern philosophy within the framework of the Third Conference on Hellenistic Philosophy, held in Bad Homburg (Germany) in 1983.
Within the list of speakers we find names that are already familiar to us because they belong to those who, in recent times, have made the greatest and most valuable contributions to the investigation of the theories of Aristotle, Plato and the pre-Socratic philosophers, among other currents of the ancient thought. Julia Annas, Martha Nussbaum, TH Irwin, Michael Frede, David Furley - to name just a few - are part of the select group gathered this time with the purpose of discussing the ethical perspectives of the three main currents of Hellenistic philosophy, namely: the skepticism, stoicism and epicureanism.
