Diana Obregón is a sociologist with a master's degree in history and a doctorate in Science And Technology Studies from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the United States. His various works have been widely disseminated in countries such as Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, the United States, the Netherlands, France, India and on the Internet. His main research interest revolves around the History of science in Colombia, especially in the field of medicine and diseases. The book to which I mention in this review, and which is partly composed of his work presented as a doctoral thesis, was awarded the prize in social sciences by the Ángel Escobar Foundation in 2001.
