I'm going to talk about what my work in ethnography is like. I start from a set of theoretical principles, most of which comes from Marxism. The first of these principles is that knowledge, science, research, are not ends in themselves, but means, they are instruments ... and they are instruments, as Marx says, to transform the world. I guess what you read that makes a little difference with Malinowski. The second criterion is that, fundamentally, throughout history, or its history, ethnography has served for domination, exploitation of peoples and, in our case, essentially, of Indians; although as a result of the constitution of 91 the blacks began to ask that anthropology also serve to dominate and exploit them, and they complained because it had not been so ... Leonardo, of course, is putting his bit in a field in the which there is little work.
