This article concerns the forgetting of the deific, or political-theological, forms of modern imperialism. In particular, it locates the framework of said imperialism in the theological language present in the works of Francisco de Vitoria about the colonization of the Americas. The operational adoption of this framework in its "secular" version is based on the active forgetting of this theology. It is concluded that this combination of adoption and oblivion extends to the imperial affection that informs Western political formation.
