Cultural studies before the walls of the University

Los estudios culturales ante los muros de la Universidad

Thanks to Robert Irwin and the organizers in Davis and Bogotá for the invitation to participate in this meeting, and thanks to the two speakers who presented today, Catherine Walsh and Ricardo Kaliman, for his interesting works. This event has presented me with an opportunity to learn more about the cultural studies projects that are being developed in Latin America at the institutional level. I owe much of my intellectual training to Latin American cultural studies, but this training corresponds to a stage prior to the creation of postgraduate programs in cultural studies. So it has been very important for me to become aware of this new presence in the university landscape. I am particularly interested in knowing more about the thesis and research projects that the students of those programs are carrying out, to better understand what is being created in these new spaces.
