Certain texts are the result of an urgent expressive impulse that little by little we are channeling and defining through the word to make it affect the theoretical and political debates imposed by the situation. Some years ago, when we first read the interview that Eduardo Viveiros de Castro gave to Piauí magazine, 5 we experienced this kind of momentum and decided to react quickly to it. We needed to measure the distances that separated us from an intellectual discourse and practice that, from the pages of a well-known Brazilian cultural magazine, reached us as the most finished expression of radical anthropological thinking in the tropics.
